Join a high-speed animation relay at Moleskine’s Creative Flagship Store in Battersea Power Station. Handmade Cinema is a residency for eight creators that bridges analog craft and digital production. Guided by the philosophy of The Legendary Notebook, you will master the fundamentals of the "Exquisite Corpse" animation process.
The challenge: 15 minutes to hand-draw 12 frames, continuing the movement from the artist before you. No thinking. Just making. Over the course of an hour, we will walk through Animation Principles, Animation History, and general discussion about Cartoons. It’s a chance to sit in front of the TV on a Saturday morning with a bowl of cereal, but on a Thursday Night.
Because you’re a grown-up.
At a time when AI and over-produced special effects have overtaken the film and TV experience, this is your chance to make a film from scratch, without any know-how, special equipment or experience. We want to see the fingerprints. We want to see what makes this art Human.

Get it started!
Everyone gets 12 sheets of numbered animation paper and a time limit. The first person starts any kind of animated sequence they want. It doesn’t have to be good, you just have to have fun!

The Handoff
You pass your work to the next person, who picks up where you left off. You never know where the story is going next.

The Aftermath
After the event, we compile the frames. Within a week, the film is live, and you have a new credit to add to your IMDb!
Every frame and the final animation is released into the Public Domain via Creative Commons Zero (CC0). We believe in making art that belongs to everyone.
